Another year has come and gone. 2020 left a lot to be desired for most people. It was a year filled with struggle and hardship, hopefully also leading to personal growth and development.
As we transition into the new year of 2021, I wanted to highlight some noteworthy content from Flourish articles that were posted throughout 2020.
There were 28 Flourish articles posted in 2020, all boasting a wide range of content.
Two of the most popular, and helpful, articles were Anxiety Part I and Anxiety Part II.
Anxiety and mental health were the driving forces behind the creation of this blog, so these articles and the ones that succeeded them are important on many levels.
Anxiety Part I kicked things off by introducing anxiety, providing a general analysis, addressing causes and symptoms and highlighting the overall effects it can have on you.
Anxiety Part II was the sequel, focusing on the many different ways to combat anxiety in order to create a new beginning filled with positivity and peace rather than stress and worry.
Both are worth reading and following as potential guides to a more stress-free lifestyle. Here are a few takeaways from them:
- Nearly 40 million adults in the U.S. (18.1% of our population) have anxiety. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the country and can have detrimental effects on your quality of life.
- Anxiety exists from things like our biology and genetic predisposition, a pile up of everyday stress, the fear of past or future happenings and coping mechanisms.
- When anxiety is constantly on your mind, weighing you down, you have little-to-no energy to invest in personal development. Instead, your focus is glued on simply surviving the day. It makes the ability to flourish nearly impossible.
- 10 tips to combatting anxiety (as found and discussed in detail in Part II): meditation/breathwork, diet and exercise, brain-gut connection, natural supplements, sleep schedule, productivity and gratitude in the mornings, reading, music, therapy and positive quotes.
Following Part II, the decision was made to go one step further and create the series “Overcoming Anxiety.” This took the six most effective ways to combat anxiety (from Part II) and gave them their own article, lasting six weeks. The topics are meditation/breathwork, diet and exercise, sleep schedule, winning the morning, reading/music and therapy.
These articles took a deep dive into the many benefits that can be taken from incorporating the topics into your daily life. Practicing meditation and breathwork, establishing a healthy diet and fitness routine, getting sufficient sleep, starting your day right, reading and listening to positivity and knowledge and looking into therapy are imperative to fighting off anxiety and living a less stressful life.
These two months of anxiety-related content set the standard for the focus of the blog. The rest of the content was designed to seek out additional topics and concepts that would serve to bring more peace, health and overall happiness to your life.
Here are five topics that might be the most beneficial to your health and wellness.
These topics can relate to everyone reading. It’s extremely important in life to be mindful, while refraining from comparison to others. And, if you continually invest in yourself, while practicing gratitude and accepting whatever comes your way, you will create a path filled with success and joy.
The other 15 articles follow the same blueprint. They all revolve around self-development and making life “easier.” Some of the content discussed is universally known yet not talked about nearly enough. Reminders are essential to keep the momentum going.
With all the craziness that 2020 brought with it, hopefully content from Flourish helped ease the trouble and provided relief in some way.
Going Forward
Last year marked the birth of Flourish. This year will aim to take the next step and raise it to another level.
Flourish is primed to pick up where it left off last year, while incorporating new wrinkles and topics. For example, there might be a few series, or special editions, similar to the anxiety series. Also, the range of content will expand, taking on new topics and ideas to offer the most assistance and information.
Social media presence will also increase, finding new ways to engage readers and followers and providing a dose of positivity as often as possible.
