Flourishing

What is flourishing?

Flourishing [ flur-i-shing]

Adjective

  • (of a person, animal, or other living organism) grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment (via Oxford dictionary)

Flourishing exists everywhere. Trees can flourish, businesses can flourish, and most importantly, people like you and I can flourish.

When you’re flourishing, you’re experiencing life at levels that begin to release your untapped potential. Your mind, body and soul are simultaneously thriving in accordance with one another. This is the best way to live your life.

Life is about finding ways to flourish and sustaining them together. This can prove difficult given the roadblocks you may be hit with on a regular basis.

But in order to live a truly fulfilling life, flourishing is an essential part of the journey.

Below are characteristics that you might associate with flourishing:

  • Healthy diet
  • Consistent fitness routine
  • Meditation & mindfulness
  • Positive attitude
  • Supreme confidence & self-esteem
  • Minimal anxiety & stress
  • Established purpose
  • Successful career
  • Financial stability
  • Work-life balance
  • Joy-filled hobbies
  • Flexible body
  • Healthy skin & hair
  • Strong relationships with family & friends
  • Faith & religious life (if applicable)

And the list goes on.

Normally, these things translate into happiness and self-worth. While you can still be happy without them, it’s not a long-term recipe for success.

These characteristics are the glue that holds the flourishing process together.

Okay, but how am I supposed to “flourish?”

Every person is different. Some are able to incorporate these things above into their life with less effort than others. Some latch onto a few important ones, some accomplish half, and others aim for them all.

The key is actively striving towards as many as you can until you’re in a state of mental, physical and emotional happiness.

Patience is required. Mixing patience with a fiery determination will make quality results inevitable.

When you achieve this happiness, the focus then shifts to maintaining it and keeping your foot on the gas down that same road.

Some of this may seem overwhelming.

As a start, focus on improving the things that need to be improved rather than dwelling on the fact that they need improvement. Allowing yourself to humbly point out your own strengths and weaknesses and work towards refinement is liberating.

There are lots of steps to take during this process, all of which depend on the particular area of growth.

Mastering your mind is the most difficult, most important step that is present in all areas. Once you master your mind and achieve peak mental health, your ability to tackle the other steps becomes easier. A strong mind fuels your desire for the pursuit of overall happiness.

Therefore, the roots of flourishing derive in the human mind. You must work to rewire your brain to create a system of healthier, happier thoughts.

This is the blueprint to unlocking the greatest version of yourself. When your mind is clear and focused, it has more power than you can imagine.

The Bottom Line

When you make the decision to flourish, you can’t be stopped. Making this decision and following through with it amidst the doubt that creeps in is the most challenging part.

It’s also what makes the end results so rewarding.

Once you conquer the negativity and begin to flourish, rest assured you will do everything it takes to continue down this path in fear of reverting back to prior habits.

There are many ways to manifest it. Feeding your mind with positivity through books, podcasts, music and other inspiring content is a great start. It paves the way to your destination and starts to build a lasting foundation.

This blog will provide knowledge and motivation that you can use to feed your mind and further build this foundation to reach your destination.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you envision room for growth and improvement in your life?
  • Will you fully commit to creating a better life for yourself and leave the negativity, doubt and bad habits behind?
  • Are you ready to flourish?

The choice is yours.
